Helium Porosimeter

The instrument is designed to accurately measure the effective porosity of plug-sized rock samples using Boyle’s Law. The sample is placed in a sample cell. During testing, helium gas is filled into the reference volume at a constant pressure and then allowed to expand into the sample cell. The initial and final stabilized pressures are recorded and used to determine the sample pore volume, from which porosity is calculated.
