Gas Adsorption and Permeation Analyzer
The PMI Gas Adsorption and Permeation Analyzer is designed to determine the adsorption and transport of various gases through sheet-like materials under a wide range of dynamic conditions. These measurements can be used to simulate real-world applications. The instrument is equipped with highly sensitive sensors capable of detecting very low concentrations. It is ideal for delicate sheet-like materials such as fabrics and films.
The flow rates of two nitrogen gas streams are independently controlled using precision flow controllers. One gas stream is saturated by passing through bubblers containing carbon tetrachloride (CCl₄). The two streams are mixed, and a sample of the gas mixture is analyzed. The mixed gas passes through the sample from the top chamber to the bottom chamber. The exiting gas from the bottom chamber is analyzed and then passes through a flow meter.
The flow rate can be controlled within the range of 1 to 5 L/min. By adjusting the amount of saturated gas mixed with the nitrogen stream through a feedback loop, the CCl₄ concentration in the gas stream can be controlled between 0.1 and 10 mg/L. Two three-way valves in the gas line allow the operator to bypass the sample chamber to achieve the desired CCl₄ concentration in the nitrogen stream.
